We drove to Kottayam (Kerala) during the long Independence day weekend on August 10th. This was the first time we were taking the DSG Automatic Rapid on a real highway. Feel was better than previous Wayanad drive. Occasionally drove on Sports mode and the response was very good too. Especially the road till Salem was very good. Bypass road skipping coimbatore does not have dividers and hence need to be little more careful. In Kerala, the roads near Palakkad and Muvattupuzha were not that great, but other than than it was a very good drive. Next time planning to try the Dindigal-Kumali route.
To avoid the long weekend rush at toll booths, we had stared from Whitefield by around 3 PM. From whitefield we also took an inside road through ChikkaThirupathi until Hossur, to avoid the Outer Ring Road and Electronic City traffic. We reached Kottayam by morning 6AM. Since we were traveling with Kid, we had taken few breaks in between. We had also stopped in between for some power naps. There were also slight waiting times at the toll booths. We could have saved more time if we had FASTags (FASTag is a simple to use, reloadable tag which enables automatic deduction of toll charges and lets you pass through the toll plaza without stopping for the cash transaction.).
